Justin A. Rich

Justin Arthur Rich passed away on July 27, 2025 at the age of 71. He died peacefully at home with his wife, Tanya, and two sons, Connor and Dylan, at his side after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Rich, mother, Patricia Green Rich, sister, Susan Majdosz, infant brother, Kevin Rich, and great-aunt Mara Mulvaney Rosenthal. He is also survived by his niece, Lauren Insley, nephew-in-law, Jason Insley, great-niece, Ella Insley, and great-nephew, J.T. Insley.
Justin was born in New York City and was raised in Long Branch, New Jersey. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, surfing, listening to music, and playing basketball. He moved to the Outer Banks soon after the birth of his two sons. Justin’s greatest joy was spending time with his sons. He loved being a father and watching them grow. He crossed paths with many and loved meeting new people. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Justin requested to be cremated and to not have a service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Outer Banks Health Cowell Cancer Center in Nags Head, North Carolina. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.

Soccer, soccer, soccer, Justin would proudly talk about his sons all the time, and how smart they are.. . I am sorry for your loss….
Prayers to the family members. I enjoyed getting to know him during the past five years or through his job at Manteo Furniture. I take comfort in knowing his son and mine are great friends. RIP

Hello I’m Sam Gengaro I grew up with Justin in long branch New Jersey we went through grade school and high school together and went surfing almost every day when we were young. Believe it or not I was looking at how to get in touch to say hi. Last week I spoke to a few of our old friends but no one had any info. Until a few minutes ago a friend told me about his passing. So sorry for your loss I just wished we could have connected thoughts and prayers for you and your family . Sam Gengaro

My most sincere condolences to Tanya / Dylan / Connor ; from the time I was about 15 or 16 , until I was 25 , Justin was an almost daily presence in my life ; we lived together , worked together ( I was the one who got him his first job in the furniture business in NJ ) , and spent a tremendous amount of time together …he was a phenomenal basketball player and we played countless games of pickup basketball on the courts of Long Branch NJ … he had intelligence and soul and great humor ; he was an avid music lover and we shared countless hours listening to music together and attending concerts … I had lost touch with him since he moved to NC from NJ ; I wish I had had the chance to reconnect with him and tell him just how much our friendship meant to me … RIP to my friend …
Healing prayers for family. Justin was a great life long friend. I was lucky to have being apart of life throughout the years! He was a great human being, filled with love, compassion and understanding!
Tonya and family, my deepest condolences on my friend Justin's passing. I feel awful. I haven't seen him for years and just last week sent him two texts to reconnect. He was my first friend from the age of 5 on Arthur Avenue. We grew up together, surfed, hung out, played basketball and baseball, and went to countless concerts. He overcame a lot to become the man he became. I was always proud of him. He was extremely smart and a deep thinker. I remember our conversations well. He will be missed and I am sad that I was not able to connect with him before he died.

Such sad news about my friend Justin. May he rest Peacefully. My Condolences to the family and his sister Sue.🙏🙏. Would stop by his shop Uptown when ever I was in Long Branch. Justin played a mean game of basketball and he was up on the newest tunes. Till we meet again my friend.
I am very sorry for your loss. It seems like just yesterday when we all lived on Arthur Avenue. Justin would be playing basketball in front of their house and his sister, Susan and I would be riding our bikes around the neighborhood. Years later I was glad to have had a chance to talk with Justin and reminisce. May your family find some peace and comfort.
We met in High School & we’re great friends for many years. Music, sports, beach. He supported myself & our friends who aspired to become pro musicians 100%. My condolences to all friends & family.
