John Ray Salazar
Kill Devil Hills- John Ray Salazar, 56, of Kill Devil Hills, NC passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond H. Salazar, his sister Maria Alicia Salazar, and brothers Raymond A. Salazar and Richard A. Salazar.
John was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas until 1988 when he moved himself and his family to the Outer Banks where he started his business, Salazar Construction Services. John spent many years building homes all over the Outer Banks area, building was his passion and he was proud of the completion on his projects. He also enjoyed fishing, listening to music and the beach.
John is survived by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Joyce Marie Salazar of Corpus Christi, TX, his mother, Victoria A. Salazar, of Corpus Christi, TX and his sister Linda (Gary) Hickok of Spokan, WA, his children, Jonathan L. Salazar, Louisana, Terry Daniel Salazar, Maureen “Mimi” Nichole Salazar, and Marleen Janette Salazar (David M. Hedgebeth) all of Kill Devil Hills, NC. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Shymeek and Nya Pledger of Kill Devil Hills, and Janessa Hedgebeth of Manteo, NC, as well as several family members and friends in the Corpus Christi, TX area.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff members of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Deacon Don Wobser of Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church, Ms. Casey Nicole Perry of Kill Devil Hills, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gomez of Point Harbor.
A memorial service will be held at the Gallop Funeral Services Chapel in Nags Head, NC on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 6:30 in the evening. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The John Salazar Memorial Fund c/o Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. 6917 S. Croatan Highway Nags Head, NC 27959.
