  1. Joan was a wonderful friend to many. She always thought of others and continued to share her love for Christ to the end. She will be remembered for her loving, kind words, and visits, as well as her leadership at Coinjock Baptist Church. Prayers to her family.

  2. Joan was one that definitely fit the description of a friend. She was one of the first to welcome Jim and I to Church’s Island when we moved there. Always there to support her friends no matter how she felt. Never did you hear a complaint from her. She was a true friend to me in my times of needing that special friend to talk to. I’ll always remember her reminding me “GOD’s got this” no matter whether it was for me or about her personally. My prayers to her family and friends. May your tears soon turn into a smile when you remember our Dear Joan and the good times🙏🙏❤️

  3. We will miss you so much Joan. You have been a loving neighbor and faithful friend to us for 11 years. We love you! Rest in peace in Jesus’s arms dearest friend until we meet you again. ❤️😘

  4. Our prayers are with the family during this season of grief. We loved Joan and appreciated her kindness to us while we ministered at Coinjock Baptist. Her love for the church, community and her neighbors was shown by her actions. She will be missed greatly. Blessings to the family.

Joan G. Wright

February 11, 2023

Joan G. Wright, 76, of Coinjock passed away February 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born May 14, 1946 in Charlotte, NC to the late Edward and Elizabeth Garman.

Her older sister, Carol, and younger brother, Ed, shared in on her life’s adventures growing up. I could tell you of all the stories from where she went to college to her travels all over the world, but she didn’t want that. Joan never wanted the attention on her for she was more interested in others.

Joan had the heart of a servant; always helping and giving selflessly. She lived her life for Christ and finished it to the end. If there was anything of importance for Joan’s lasting legacy, it was for people to know who Jesus is and to share the Gospel. Well done good and faithful servant.

Joan is survived by her husband of 38 years, Thomas Wright, Sr; siblings, Carole Stout (John) and Edward Garman (Shari); stepchildren, Tom Wright, Jr. (Terri), John Wright (Jale), Heather Donis, Kristen Boyd (Justin) and Lisa Childress (Charles); along with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

“For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:11-13

The celebration of Joan’s life will be held at Coinjock Baptist Church Saturday March 4, 2023 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s name may be made to Coinjock Baptist Church (coinjock.org). Please share condolences with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
