Jimmy Green, Jr.

Jimmy Green, Jr. died September 18, 2008 in Kill Devil Hills after a brave battle with illness. Jimmy was the son of the late James C. Green, Sr. and Lena Carver Green of Manteo. He was born March 22, 1947 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Jimmy was employed by The Dare County School System and was a member of Haven Creek Baptist Church in Manteo. Jimmy loved music of all kinds and loved sports especially Manteo Redskins athletics.

Left to cherish Jimmy’s memory is his life partner and special love Mary Berry of Manteo, his mother Lena Green also of Manteo, two sons Kevin Green of Manteo and Damien Morris of Baltimore, MD, five daughters Marlena Tequoia Green, Veronne Green, Janetta Green, Anne Carver, and Gwen Brown all of Baltimore; one sister Everlina Green; one brother Robert Ashby and wife Beulah Ashby, three grandchildren and host of extended family members and dear friends.

A funeral will be held Wednesday September 24, 2008 at 1 O’clock in the evening at Haven creek Missionary Baptist Church.  A visitation will be held at church prior to the service from 11 am to 1 pm. Interment will follow the service at Free Grace Cemetery in Manteo. Pastor Lonell Griffin Sr. will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to Dare Home Health and Hospice PO Box 1000, Manteo, NC 27954. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
