Jerry “Henry” Allen

Knotts Island- Born July 8, 1966, Jerry “Henry” Allen passed away in his home on February 11, 2023. A lifelong Virginia Beach native, Henry had a colorful life enjoying his family and friends throughout challenges and joys in life. He will always be known for his big heart and gentle soul.

Henry lived life to the fullest while young. Once he was going to be a race car driver like David Pearson. Then he thought he was a ladies’ man like Brad Pitt. Finally, he found his happy place at Bonney Bright Sand. Henry loved his work for some 20 years, with his best friend “Bright” as Henry called him. Together they claim to have dug and delivered enough sand to build many cities, as he would tell. Henry loved to work hard and play hard. He had a passion for finding the best whatever food there was. You need a BBQ and Henry could tell you where to get the best.

We are grateful for “Bright”, family and friends who helped Henry as liver issues slowed him down later in life. Henry is now watching over all his family, friends, and his sandpit pain-free. Rest in Peace Henry, we will miss you.
