Jerry Bell McClease
Manteo, NC- Jerry Bell McClease died November 30, 2007 in Nags Head. He was born on September 16, 1930 to the late George McClease and Cora Wise McClease of Manteo. Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by sisters Greathen Cooper, Cora Gallop, and Elizabeth McClease, and brothers James A. McClease, Charlie V. McClease, and Willie McClease.
A Manteo native, Jerry served his country honorably in the United States Army. After discharge from the military, he worked as a professional truck driver for many years and raised his family. Though he was retired, Jerry loved driving and was known for his hat collection.
Jerry Bell McClease is survived by his wife Charlotte McClease and his son Jerry L. McClease. Also surviving are his two sisters Ida M. Golden, and Mary M. Conway both of Manteo, two brothers Lindsay E. McClease and wife Phyllis of Greensboro, George A. McClease of Nags Head, two grandchildren, and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Homegoing services will be held Tuesday December 4, 2007 at 1 O’clock in the afternoon at Free Grace Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ on Sir Walter Raleigh Street in Manteo. Free Grace Pastor Carrie Golden Holmes will officiate. A visitation will be held at church one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Free Grace Cemetery in Manteo.
