Jeannie Marie Steward

Jeannie Marie Steward went to be with the Lord  October 8, 2025 in Greenville, NC after her battle with cancer.  Jeannie moved to the Outer Banks 40 years ago from Maryland and touched many lives. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Crain, her mother Mary E. Bakersmith, and her brother, Timothy Bakersmith.

She worked as a trim carpenter, a project cleaner, and a small business owner however her most loved job was a waitress at TL’s Family Restaurant. Through TL’s she met and enlightened people with her smile and outgoing friendliness.

Jeannie enjoyed family gatherings, shopping at thrift stores and yard sales, fishing, and walking the shores in search of beach glass.   Though she had no children of her own she had an outpouring of love for children. Jeannie was “Auntie” to her niece Lila Bakersmith, and “Gigi” to her companion’s daughters and grandchildren.

Jeannie is survived by her two sisters, Patricia Holland (Paul) of Maryland, and Susan Bakersmith of New York; two brothers, Joseph Bakersmith (Crystal) of Stumpy Point, NC and William Bakersmith (Carol) also of Maryland as well as her faithful and loving companion of ten years- Marvin Scarborough of the Manns Harbor, NC residence.

Family and friends are invited to share music, stories and memories at a visitation to be held at Gallop Funeral Chapel in Nags Head, NC Sunday October 26, 2025 from 3 pm to 5 pm.  Floral tributes are welcome at the funeral home prior to the visitation.   Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
