Jeanette Progana

Jeanette Progana, Our Beloved Mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, passed away on May 22, 2025, in Rio Rancho NM at the age of 87. She was born on December 24, 1937, in Providence, RI and grew up in Waterbury, CT.

She was the beloved wife of the late Sgt Major John Progana USMC. They were married for 61 years. Jeanette took pride in being a military wife. She was truly the definition of the women behind the man!

Jeanette was known for her vibrant and feisty personality and sense of humor. She was a loving and caring person and had a strong devotion to her faith. She found much happiness with her special circle of friends at Holy Redeemer.

Prior to retirement She worked as a computer programmer for Singer business machines and later as a typesetter for two large Albuquerque newspapers. She loved to cook and sew. Her abiding faith was always present, and she found solace in her special circle of friends at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer and husband Bill, son John Progana Jr, grandsons Noah Place and wife Megan and Joshua Progana. Great granddaughters Skyler Harris, Bella Place, Sophia Place and Liberty Progana and one great-great grandson, Wyatt Harris. Sisters, Judy Volpe and Elaine Ferrara and sister-in-law Olivia Pragana.

Jeanette’s life will be celebrated with a service at 11 am November 6, 2025 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Kitty Hawk NC. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery alongside her husband.
