  1. We are so sorry for your loss. We loved Ms Jane she was the sweetest kindest lady. She had a way of making you feel special around her. She was like family. We all know where she is, and she will be missed. She was a wonderful Sunday school teacher.

  5. My dear Aunt Jane, I sure enjoyed the visits of all of you to Kansas when we were kids. In more recent years, I loved being her “friend” on Facebook. She would always make me smile. Love and hugs to all of you. Dad’s most frequent story was about her being the only girl in the family. Everyday just before grandma and grandpa got home from work, she would start crying and then all the boys would get spanked! Cherish your memories.

    Our families have been interconnected since the late 60s when our fathers rode together in the van going back and forth to Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Most of us went to school together and participated in band with our parents support/chaperoning. It is with heavy hearts for you that we are sending prayers and thoughts for you during your time of grief. We hope it helps that we understand your loss as well as eases your sorrow that she is in a better place with our lord.

Jane Marie Phillips Wilaby

Jane Marie Phillips Wilaby, 88, of Grandy, NC, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, in her home surrounded by loved ones. Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and even lived long enough to spend time with her great-great grandson.

Born in Chanute, Kansas, Jane was the daughter of the late Marius and Dorothy Harmon Phillips and was the wife of the late Robert “Bob” Wilaby. Jane is survived by a daughter, Martha Wilaby of Durham, NC; four sons, Timothy Wilaby and wife, Terri, of Pensacola, FL., Robert P. Wilaby and wife, Josannah of Silver Springs, FL,  James Wilaby and wife Liz of Grandy, NC, and John Wilaby and wife Janet of South Daytona, FL; 10 grandchildren (Christopher, Stephen, Robbie, Mikey, George, Megan, Grace, Bella, Jack, Brittany), seven great-grandchildren (Hannah, Odie, Clementine, Georgia Jane, Sammie, Dean,  and Jasper), and one great-great grandson, Lane. She was predeceased by three brothers (Buddy, Charles and her twin brother Jerry) and survived by one brother, Rex.

Jane was a devout Christian her entire life and loved Jesus it was said by her family she would be in church anytime the doors were open. She was an avid gardener. She would spend summers growing vegetables and flowers as well as canning her bounty from her garden. Jane would happily share her bounty with friends and family. Jane was an amazing quilter and enjoyed fellowship with other quilters in a local quilting group. One of her prized possessions is a quilt made with squares from each of her fellow quilting group members. Jane ran a very successful tax business in Currituck County with her husband for many decades.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Kim Greist, who took amazing care of Jane for the past few years so she could continue to live at home, as well as Jeannine Mixon and Adoration Hospice. The celebration of life will be held at Jarvisburg Church of Christ 121 Forbes Road Jarvisburg, NC Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 1 pm. Friends and family may view at church one hour prior. Pastor Ron Lawrence and Min. Chris Santoro will officiate. Donations in Jane’s honor may be made to: Jarvisburg Church of Christ 121 Forbes Road Jarvisburg, NC 27947.
