Jane Marie Freggens

Kitty Hawk-Jane Marie Freggens, 80, of Kitty Hawk, passed peacefully from this world on May 6, 2013 at the Outer Banks Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Donald. Born in Elizabeth, N.J., Jane and Donald raised four children before they retired to the Outer Banks in 1989.

Those who Jane encountered were greeted by her warmth and genuine interest in them. She had a marvelous sense of humor which never let her take herself or life’s bumps too seriously. Jane was an avid reader and classic movie buff. She served the Town of Kitty Hawk on the Board of Adjustments and was Secretary of the former Kitty Hawk Citizen’s Association.

Jane is survived by two daughters, Maureen Skidmore (Steve) of Glenshaw, PA. and Ann Flynt (Charlie) of Gulfport, MI; two sons, Donald Freggens, Jr. (Lisa) of Duluth, GA. and Carl Freggens of Pittsburgh, PA., three sisters, Sally Marchese and Sue Patterson of New Jersey, Pat Rupnik of Tennessee and a brother James Patterson of Florida, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, friends whom she cherished and her husband’s seeing eye dog, Veimar.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gallop Funeral Services Chapel MP 16 in Nags Head. The committal ceremony will be graveside Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 4:30 pm at Southern Shores Cemetery.
