Jane Hand Moseley

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jane Hand Moseley, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 24, 2025. Jane was born on April 21st, 1953 in Rock Hill, South Carolina to the late Aquille “Quille” Mazon Hand and Grey Smith Griggs.
Jane lived her adult life on the Outer Banks of North Carolina where she began a career in the hospitality industry, starting off in sales then moving into management. She then successfully opened and managed three major hotels on the OBX, one of which won a prestigious national award. She also served as President of the North Carolina Hotel/Motel Association and their local chapter. She was also a member of several Chamber of Commerce committees.
She served as Regional Lieutenant Governor for Kiwanis Club International and as President for the local Kitty Hawk Kiwanis Club, which was known for being the first all female Kiwanis Club.
It was while juggling a career and caregiving for her mother with Alzheimers that she realized a great need on the Outer Banks for elder care. This is when she started her second career in 2005 by opening up Visiting Angels of NENC where she was able to help many other families during their time of need.
Having recently retired, Jane was enjoying life after work by doing some traveling with friends and family, spending lazy days at the beach, loving on her grandchildren, caring for some of the people she loved the most before their passing, and most recently-the joy of planning Michael and Jennifer Diane’s wedding.
Jane was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Grey “Katie” Gantt; her sister, Cynthia Grey Hand, and the fathers of her children Richard Eugene Gantt and John Michael Moseley Sr. She is survived by two children, Paige Gantt Sillies (Steve) and John Michael Moseley Jr. (Jennifer Diane); and four grandchildren Greysen, Myles, Lydia and Vance.
Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply her steady, compassionate presence, Jane made life brighter for so many people. The world is undoubtedly a better, kinder place because Jane was in it. Though she may no longer walk among us, the love she gave and the light she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Jane’s celebration of life service will be held Friday May 30 , 2025 at 1 pm at Gallop Funeral Services Nags Head, NC Chapel. Rev. Roger Barnett will officiate. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.

Thank you for raising two of the best people I have ever met. Because of you I have an amazing partner and a sister and feel surrounded by love and support. I am the luckiest person to have had you as my mother in law. You were like a best friend to me. We have had so many good times and your wild spirit felt like a kindred one to mine. Thank you for never judging me and for all of the love you have poured into the lives of everyone around you. This was such a tough year for us but we made it through together. I miss you dearly
