James Thomas Walker

James “Jimmy” Thomas Walker, 76, entered into eternal rest on November 19, 2021 at Sentara Hospital of Elizabeth City, NC. He was the father to Ann Marie Gilbert and Lisa Michelle Walker; pawpaw to, Dereck Gilbert, Carolyn Gilbert, Sydney Berlin and Lyndsey Walker-Lee; and great-grandpaw to Lorraine Jones, Liam Jones, Finn Gilbert and Willow Byrum.

Jimmy was born in Roanoke, VA and raised in Norfolk, VA by his parents, Otto and Eleanor. Jimmy attended Maury High School and worked as a production controller for NARF where he retired. He loved collecting cars, woodworking, watching NASCAR and rooting for the 49ers. Jimmy loved drinking beer at his favorite places such as, The Thirsty Camel, Greenies, and other Ocean View and Norfolk establishments. Jimmy was continuously supporting various charities and his last donation was the gift of life as an organ donor.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Eleanor Walker; grandparents, Levi and Annie Walker, and an infant grandson, Timothy William Walker. He was also preceded in death by an infant son.

Jimmy’s wishes for cremation will be honored and a celebration of life will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
