James Richard “Dickie Boy” McCullen

James  Richard “Dick” McCullen, known affectionately as “Dickie boy,” passed away on February 11, 2026, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Born May 2, 1935, in Black Creek, North Carolina, he lived a full life marked by kindness and hard work, always with a healthy appetite.

Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy, and ten brothers and sisters. He is survived by his brother, Ray McCullen and his sister-in-law, Kathy, along with many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember Dick’s warmth and dedication.

The family has honored Dick’s preference for the simplicity of cremation.  At a future time, Dick’s life and legacy will be honored in a manner befitting his memorable and impactful presence.
