James O. Burton
James O. Burton went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2009, in Sentara Heart Hospital, Norfolk, VA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and
great grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was born November 25, 1925, in Sylacauga, Alabama, to the late L. Dewey and Axie Burton. Jim retired from the US Navy after 22 years of service
and from Greenbrier Chrysler Plymouth after 19 years of service. He was a member of Kempsville Masonic Lodge #196, Scottish Rite, Khedive Shriners, Fleet
Reserve #60, Virginia Rounders Round Dance Club and co-founder of the Dancing Angels Square Dance Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Lark and her husband Marvin of Harleyville, SC; Joyce Corneil of Charleston, SC; an adopted son, Ray Burton and
his wife Diane of Long Beach, CA; three step-children, Kevin Sutton of Chesapeake, VA; Keith Sutton and wife Debbie of San Diego, CA; Denise Barnes and
husband Lee of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother and a sister, Walter Burton and Mae Depew, both of Sylacauga, Alabama; eight grandchildren and four great
grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife, Irene Marshall Sutton-Burton; two brothers, Donald Burton and Dewey Burton; and a sister, Christine Weiler.
The family will hold a memorial service Thursday January 22, 2009 at 3 O’clock in the evening at the Kempsville Masonic Lodge at 4869 Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach.
