James Leroy McMullen

James Leroy McMullen died Saturday April 28, 2007 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.   He was 71.  James McMullen was born in Buffalo, New York February 24, 1936 and resided in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for many years.

Enduring many early hardships, James pursued his education, married, and entered the United States Navy.  While serving his county in Vietnam and Lebanon, he distinguished himself by earning numerous service medals including the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and four Navy good conduct medals.

Left to cherish the memory of James McMullen is his devoted wife of over 50 years, Sue Potter McMullen of Harbinger, North Carolina, two daughters April Knight and Donna McClure, three grandchildren Jessica Wade and Tracy Sheldon both of Alexandria, Virginia, and Hope Deltoro of Point Harbor, North Carolina, and 4 great-grandchildren as well as a host of dear friends.

A celebration of the life of James Leroy McMullen with full military honors will be held at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery 5310  Milners Road in Suffolk, Virginia Thursday May 3, 2007 at 1 O’clock in the afternoon.
