James Everette Poplin
James Everette Poplin passed away on February 2, 2013 in Manteo. “Short”, as he was affectionately called, was born on August 31, 1930 to the late Robert Poplin and Mildred Harwell Poplin in Concord, North Carolina. He was a veteran of the Korean War earning a Good Conduct medal and first serving in front line artillery and then as the company cook. He retired from Wica Chemicals as the maintenance supervisor after 35 years of employment. He was a member of Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte and enjoyed hunting, gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Patricia Burroughs Poplin, her children Truman “Tim” Mack Bradley, Jr. and Tina Marie “Phronjia” Bradley and grandchildren Sara Bradley Stevens, husband Jerry and son Rylan, and Christina Bradley. He is also survived by siblings, Gene Poplin, Brenda Garrison, Bonnie Sue Taylor, Inez Tucker, and Juanita Untz and their families as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service, with military honors will be held on 2pm Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Manteo Town Cemetery with Bishop Tom Maher officiating.
