James Blackwell

Mr. James Blackwell died Wednesday, December 19, 2007.   Service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Still Waters Baptist Church, Nags Head with Pastor Tony Facenda presiding.  Burial will follow in Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Petersburg, Virginia.  He was a former employee of Dare County.   He was a member of Still Waters Baptist Church, Nags Head, served in the choir member and an usher.  He served in the Still Waters Prison Ministry ministering to prisoners in Tyrrell County prison and in the Dare County jail system.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of the home; a daughter Katie Blackwell of the home; a son Bradley Blackwell and wife, Alisha of Disputanta, Virginia; a sister, Marsha Bland and husband, Edsel of Manteo; three brothers, Troy Blackwell, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Tennessee, Richard Blackwell and wife, Joann of Virginia, and Leslie Blackwell of Virginia; three grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, and Alexandria.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Still Waters Baptist Church prison ministry and the A.L.S. Association Jim “Catfish” Hunter Chapter.
