Helen Kilts Wiegel
Helen Kilts Wiegel died December 2, 2021 in Norfolk, VA at the age of 93. Helen and her adoring husband Joe – deceased were long-time Southern Shores residents. Originally from Minnesota, Helen was an active and generous member of Duck Woods Country Club, the First Flight Lions Club, Duck Methodist Church and other educational, civic, and social organizations. She was a strong presence running the Lions BINGO games for many years and served on several boards and committees. Helen also loved playing golf, dining out, and attending local arts performances with Joe and her many friends.
Helen’s clear and organized plans for cremation will be honored and as she wished, her Duck Methodist Church family will host her memorial service on Thursday, December 9th at 3pm. Helen and Joe’s cremated remains will be interred together at Fort Snelling Veterans Cemetery.

I was very sorry and sad to hear the news of Helen. She and I were friends for many years through our connection to Duck Woods. Helen always, always had a smile on her face and was so gracious to everyone. She often was the first to volunteer when help was needed. Her friendship and presence will certainly be missed.
I am sorry to hear about her passing. She was a gracious woman who I enjoyed interacting with her over the course of the 21 years I worked at Duck Woods.
Helen was my husband’s stepsister. She and Joe were gracious hosts when we visited from Minnesota. During one of our visits they took us to Washington DC each day for a week! We appreciated Helen’s artistic and culinary abilities. Blessed be her memory.
