Helen Jane Giffen Grohman

Manteo- Helen Jane Giffen Grohman died peacefully at home on Friday May 26th, 2017. She was 102 years old. She is survived by her three children Tanya Grohman (husband Clifford Granitzki), David Grohman (wife Marthe), and Kamala Grohman (husband Jeff Cotton), five grandchildren Jesse Granitzki (wife Cara), Amelia Grohman, Brianna Grohman, Jillian Grohman and Josephine Cotton, three great-grandsons Bradley, Ayden and Taylor Granitzki.

Helen graduated from Michigan State College in 1939 with a degree in foods and nutrition. She lived in nine states, from Maine to California. She was a scholar, a poet, a musician, a devoted mother and wife, a farmer and dietician. She was a patient and calm soul. Her forward thinking in nutrition and eating ”clean” is now becoming embraced and certainly contributed to her long and productive life.

Helen can recently be remembered by her kind and gentle smile as she strolled along downtown Manteo with her caring daughter Tanya. “Grammy” will be remembered for her stories and her smiles.
