G. Neil Ellis

Kill Devil Hills – G. Neil Ellis, 63, 409 W Durham St in Kill Devil Hills, NC lost his battle with cancer on June 10, 2014 at Colony Ridge Nursing Home in Nags Head, NC.  He was the son of the late Doris Elizabeth Bateman Ellis and Jefferson Calvin Ellis, Jr.

Neil volunteered to serve in the United States Army, as a Specialist 5, with a tour in Vietnam and a tour in Germany.

Neil was a surveyor on the Outer Banks of North Carolina for many years.  Through this work he had observed the beautiful wildlife of the Outer Banks and was inspired to create award-winning mosaic works of art which he and others have thoroughly enjoyed.

Mr. Ellis is survived by three brothers:  Calvin Lane Ellis (Tara) of Elizabeth City, NC; Jeffrey Mark Ellis of Wilmington, NC; and Scott Ellis of Chesapeake, Va.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his close friends Mike Monds of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Buzzy Ludford of Camden, NC.

Neil leaves behind his beloved dog, Suzie, and cat “me and you”.
