Evelyn Gard Hedrick
Buxton- Evelyn Gard Hedrick, 78, of Buxton, NC, mother of 3, Nannie to many, died in Elizabeth City on April 1st, 2013 after a valiant battle with numerous health obstacles. Her last days were spent planning a celebration with her family. Greeting her in heaven are her parents, Herbert A. ,and Anges Hooker Gard, brother Herbert A. Gard, Jr. and grandson, Ehan Hooper.
Evelyn attended school in Norfolk VA. She prided herself in being the best Virginia Pilot delivery person. Evelyn enjoyed nothing more than celebrating occasions with her family and playing card games with her friends.
While in Elizabeth City, she attended Freedom Baptist Ministries and considered the members her church family. In lieu of flowers, she would be honored to have memorial contributions made to the church’s building fund at P.O. BOX 1668, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
Left to cherish her memory are Tracey Hooper and John, their daughters Amber (Brett and daughter Paizley), Laura and Abby; Kenneth L. Jennette and Jodi, their children Kane, Lanie, Olivia and Caroline; Stacey Jennette-Meiggs and her son, Matthew. Also cherishing their lives together are her sister, Geraldine Stamper and her sons Michael and Douglas and their families and her sister-in-law, Mary Gard and her son Robin.
Evelyn became very close with all those involved in her medical care over the last decade and considered them all her family. Her family would like to thank each of them for their care and love.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 3rd at 2:00 pm at Freedom Baptist Ministries in Elizabeth City, NC. A celebration of her life will follow the service. Entombment will take place at a later date beside her deceased husband, Bernard L. Jennette, in Buxton NC.
