Edward Richard “Dick” Makowski
Kill Devil Hills- Edward Richard “Dick” Makowski, 71, passed away at home Friday June 29th, 2012 with family by his side.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey September 30, 1940, Dick was the son of the late T.F. and Frances Makowski and the brother of the late Ted Makowski.
Dick was a graduate of the Rutgers College of Pharmacy. After completing his studies, he was employed for many years as a registered pharmacist with Eckerd Drugs throughout the New Jersey area. In Toms River, NJ he was a life member of the B.P.O.E and a former member of the St. Joseph’s Church Knights of Columbus. Locally, Dick was a member of the Baum Senior Center where he enjoyed playing cards and competing in the Senior Games. He was also member of the Knights of Columbus of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish in Kitty Hawk. Dick cherished his longtime membership in the First Flight Lions Club where he held numerous offices over the years. Dick will be remembered as a funny, outgoing, and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
Surviving Dick Makowski is his devoted wife Adrianne Makowski of the Kill Devil Hills residence; 2 sons, Brian C. Makowski and wife Tara of Bayville, NJ and Edward A.Makowski, also of the Kill Devil Hills residence; two granddaughters, Abigail Rey and Liliana Kara Makowski, two special sisters-in-law, Arleen Howell of Kill Devil Hills, and Barbara Pavlick of Lanoka Harbor, NJ; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and dear friends.
Calling hours will be held at the Gallop Funeral Services Chapel in Nags Head Monday evening July 2, 2012 from 5 to 8 pm. A Mass of Celebration will be held Tuesday July 3, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish at 10 am. Father Father Al Russell will be the celebrant.
Calling hours will be 2- 4 PM and 7-9 PM Thursday July 5 at Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals in Toms River, NJ. Friday July 6, 2012, a Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Toms River, NJ at 11 AM with interment following the mass at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests that memorial donations be forwarded to the NC Lions, Inc. PO Box 39 Sherrill’s Ford, NC 28673 or to the Knights of Columbus Council # 8759 in Kitty Hawk, NC.
