  1. Debi was my same age cousin and partner in crime. We had lots of fun as kids when we got together. I am so happy we recently reconnected and am so sad she has left us. Lots of love to her family— she felt so loved right up to the end.

  8. Debi and I were close friends since 7th grade. We double dated with our then boyfriends, who became our husbands of decades. We shared Friday night steak dinners, drive in movies, senior prom, as well as, graduation parties. Our friendship continued into our newly married lives, and long after, but, especially during our difficulties securing the titles as momma’s.
    We had hours of treasured gab sessions throughout the years. She was my soul sister!

Deborah Boyle Johnston

Deborah “Debi” Boyle Johnston, 67, of Currituck County, NC passed away peacefully, on Monday, February 14, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Debi was born on October 28, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Edward J. Boyle, Sr. and the late Helen D. Boyle, the second of seven children. She was a 1973 graduate of Floyd E. Kellam High School and retired from Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, formally known as Southeastern Virginia Area-wide Model Program, SEVAMP, where she assisted senior citizens in finding employment and other services to support and enrich their lives.

In addition to her parents, Debi was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Larry J. Johnston, infant children April, Jake and Michael and brother-in-law, Donald Stump.

Debi is survived by her son, Jason M. Johnston, and girlfriend, Michelle Scott, of Grandy, NC; grandchildren, Lorelei M. and Tucker K. Johnston, of Midlothian, VA; her beloved partner, Alexander Lewis, of Moyock, NC; brother, Edward J. Boyle, Jr. (Cindy) of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Sandra B. Stump, of Newport News, VA; Gail L. Proffitt (Leon), and Cathy B. Miller (Johnny), both of Grandy, NC; Patricia A. Boyle and Pamela A. Riddick (Mills, Jr.), both of Aydlett, NC; brother-in-law, Christopher Johnston, of Virginia Beach, VA; nieces, Sarah B. Cameron (Eric) of Virginia Beach, VA; and Tracy L. Moorer (Jon), of Benson, NC; nephews, Paul B. Osborne (Amanda) of Peachtree City, GA; Keith P. Boyle, of Richmond, VA; Jonathan M. Miller (Jennifer) and Corey M. Miller (Jamie) both of Grandy, NC; her four-legged companions Buddy, Cassie, Tank and Missy, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Debi was an avid Redskins fan, a dog lover and loved to knit and crochet. She is now at peace and has been reunited with her babies, husband, parents and fur-babies Dusty, Scooter, CoCoa, Zeb, Buster and Maggie. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Albemarle Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care given to Debi, especially Heather and Melanie.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Steven Siegrist, will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm, at Gallop Memorial Chapel, 4055 Caratoke Highway, Barco, NC. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. has been entrusted with assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Currituck County Animal Services and Control, 153 Courthouse Road, Suite 900, Currituck, NC 27929.
