  1. Dave and Barb were two of our most wonderful friends dating from September 1970 at USASAPAC in Hawaii. They helped our family in many ways for which we all have been grateful.

Our visits to the OBX were always enhanced by our get togethers. Dave’s emails were very much appreciated.

May all of their family be forever blessed by the memories of them.

  2. To the Rhoads family, I extend my deepest sympathies . Dave will be greatly missed by all who came to know him as the kind, generous man he was. He always had a positive outlook and a good story to tell. It was an honor and a pleasure to know him.

  3. Dave was my dear friend! He always had a smile…and he always made me smile! He will be so missed. A wonderful gentleman.

  7. It was my privilege to have known Dave since the forming of the First Flight Military Officers Association. He was not only a wonderful patriate who inspired others to love their country, he was kind and easy to become a friend. He was the kind of person that made you wish more were like him.

  8. The Colonel and I served together on the board of directors of the Kitty Hawk VFD for many years and he and Barbara became very good friends with my wife and I. I will miss his big personality and resonant voice. He and Barbara were top notch and won’t be forgotten.

  9. My husband Chip and I had the pleasure of serving along side him in the Kitty Hawk Fire Department. He was always there to help in his Utility13, all smiles and had a good story to tell. Our deepest sympathy.

  10. I am so thankful for the times I got to spend with my Uncle Dave. His physical size and career as an Army officer were in no way indicative of his gentle heart. His dedication in service to others is an inspirational legacy. I am going to miss him a bunch.

  11. We spent many enjoyable times with Dave & Barbara at Kaneohe Yacht Club in Hawaii and kept in touch over these many years. We share in the family’s loss of such a kind and generous man.

  12. David was a dear friend, neighbor (Hawaii) and mentor. We loved reading the jokes he would email periodically. David and Barbara will be missed.
