  2. Dear Lori, Graham and Max- I mourn with you for the loss of Dave. He was a good man who fought the good fight in his life. He loved you all so much, and he also loved so many others, as he had such a big heart. I am so sad the world does not have him in it any longer, and I hope for him that he is in a place of peace, love, and maybe excellent fishing. Much love, your sister Jeanne

  3. Lori and family, I was so shocked and saddened when I heard about Dave’s passing. I met Dave at Kitty Hawk Dog Park and really enjoyed our long conversations while our dogs Stella and EZ played together. Dave was such a kind person, and so amazingly knowledgeable about everything. We were fellow Coastie veterans. Of all the wonderful memories I have of the dog park, those of Dave and Stella are the best.

  4. My heart is broken to hear the news of Dave’s passing. We use to have some great conversations and laughs at the KH dog park. He was a great guy. Sending my heartfelt sympathy to Lori and family.

  5. oh my sweet Lori Im so so very sorry for you loss. I know your heart is broken and no words will fix it. Just know you were blessed to have had your true sole mate and your love for each other was unlike any other.

  6. Lori and family I’m so very sorry the sadness you all must be going through. I pray that Dave’s soul may rest in peace. May God’s love and grace surround you and your family during this sad time. Please know you are in my prayers.

  7. Dear Graham, my most heartfelt and loving sympathy to you and your family. I did not know your dad, but everything written about him speaks volumes to his character and generosity, love of life and family. And, his sense of humor!

  8. Dear Lori and Family, I am sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I met Dave through hunting/farm prep several times together at Chuck’s farm and at Rob & Annes. He was a true patriot and had a big heart. God bless you all through this time; I am glad to have known you Dave!

David Christopher Bulla

November 18, 2024

With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of David Christopher Bulla, 56, of Point Harbor, NC on November 18,2024.

David served in the USCG from 1987-1991. He was mainly stationed on the Icebreaker Mackinaw, where he was responsible for all electronics on board. He received many medals and honors.

David was a chef at the Outer Banks Hospital for 15 years. He was known famously for his cheesy scrambled eggs, homemade soups, and collards cooked just perfectly. He also worked part time at Trio Restaurant, where he could use more of his culinary skills. He was known as the “Soup Whisperer”.

David was an avid fisherman, hunter, and jack of all trades. He took great pride in his yard and maintained a perfect lawn. He always had many different projects going at the same time. One of his finest projects was a dining table he wanted to fill with family. Dave always tried to speak of others positively and was always quick to help a friend in need.

Most importantly, Dave loved his family. He loved being a husband, father, PawPaw and friend.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bulla and his Mother, Barbara Bulla.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Lori Bulla; sons, Graham Pinkstone and Max Pinkstone; grandchildren, Elias Pinkstone and Sophia Pinkstone; brother, Robert Bulla; sisters, Jeanne Bulla and Nancy Bongiovanni, and nieces Lauren Bulla, Ava Bulla, Magie Bulla, Cassie Bongiovanni, and Amanda Bongiovanni aka Ravs. He is also survived by his best friend since third grade, Ian MacKinnon; his fishing buddy, Ken Partlow, and his good friend, Sgt. Chuck Savage.

The overwhelming love and support from family, friends, and community is appreciated so much by Dave’s family. It’s exactly what Dave would have wanted. In the end there is only love.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Please leave a message of hope at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
