  1. Sending love to the family. It saddens me to know that Cindy has passed away. I am lucky to have shared over 50 years of memories to recall and smile about with her. Cindy was a unique and “one of a kind” character with a good heart. I will miss her….nina

  2. Sending my heartfelt condolences to the family.

Moving to Franklin VA from the Washington DC area in 1967 was not easy for a shy, eleven-year-old kid. I felt alone, awkward, and out of place. All that changed the day a super friendly girl came by to check out the new kid. Her name was Cindy. And Cindy, so full of life and enthusiasm, managed to pull me out of my shell. She included me in her world which she did not have to do. Cindy already had many friends. Lonely was not in her vocabulary.

We grew very close over the years, sharing a ton of adventures, great stories, laughter, and some tears. These are cherished memories. Cindy was beautiful, unique, intriguing, kind, and so much more. I am truly grateful to Cindy for accepting me into her life. I feel blessed to have had her in mine.

  3. Rest in peace dear Cindy. You will be missed by many but never forgotten
Thoughts & prayers to the family at this saddened time!

Cynthia Hodges Riddle

October 25, 2024

Cynthia Hodges Riddle passed away peacefully in her home in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the age of 70. Cindy was born in Little Washington, North Carolina on March 10, 1954 to the late Marion Uriah “M.U.” Hodges and Peggy Rose Woolard. Cindy grew up in Franklin Virginia, where she graduated from Franklin High School. She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Jerome Flora Riddle. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Cindy spent her summers in the Outer Banks, a place that eventually became her lifelong home. She delighted in many days at the beach collecting sea glass, cooking and hosting family and friends. Most of all, more than anything, Cindy loved being surrounded by family and friends, and especially her grandchildren.

Cindy is survived by her treasured son, Herndon Hunt Outlaw Riddle and dedicated daughter Jacqueline Helena Hodges Riddle; as well as her four cherished grandchildren, Lauren Catherine Riddle, Cameran Alexis Riddle, Jude Hunt Godfrey Ward, and Juliana Brooks Rose Ward who brought immense joy and love to her life.

Mrs. Riddle was preceded in death by her brother, William Bruce Rose Jr., and her stepfather, William Bruce Rose of Franklin Virginia.

Cindy was an incredibly fearless and resilient woman who faced life’s unexpected challenges with unyielding strength throughout her journey. While many might have given up with all the cards she had been dealt, she fought relentlessly through every circumstance.

She will be sincerely missed by her loved ones and friends. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is made whole again with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A visitation will be held 5-7pm, Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Gallop Funeral Chapel in Nags Head.
