  1. Jane, sincerest heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your sister, who has been restored to health and received into God’s presence.

  2. Jane, my heartfelt sympathy on Cindy’s passing. I enjoyed getting to know her when we were at Mighty Wind together. She is not pain free in God’s presence.

  3. To the family of Dr. Cindy Hand,

First and foremost, please accept my sincerest and heartfelt condolences for your loss. Dr. Hand was such a joy to converse with. Always said what most genuinely couldn’t on our PCMHIC team. She was fiesty and surely took on the characteristics of your Navy Master Chief dad…she and I, I’d like to believe we’re kindred spirits. She got me! Cindy along with one other provider on our team helped me through a very tough spot in my marriage; Cindy provided a resource unbeknownst to me and it saved our marriage. May God give you all the strength and wonderful memories to get through this challenging time. May Cindy rest and hang out with Lord.
    Lovingly, Nicole G Cleveland

  4. I truly enjoyed working with Dr. Hand who went the extra mile for her patients. When I was ambivalent about retiring a few years ago, she said, “do it…tomorrow is never promised.”

  5. “We will be known forever by the tracks we leave.” – Dakota

To Dr. Hand’s family, my deepest and sincerest condolences. Dr. Hand definitely left some significant tracks on the hearts and minds of her Veterans, her colleagues, and trainees. She said what most of us were thinking and in a way most of us probably could not get away with, because we were not Cindy Hand. She always seemed to surprise me with the things she and I had in common, like a love of Big Freedia. May she rest in peace.

  6. Dear Jane and Family,
I am so very sorry to learn of Cyndi’s passing. I’m certain that she greatly impacted the lives of others through her healing work and you enabled that to continue throughout her illness with your boundless loving care and support.May she rest in eternal peace.

  7. My heartfelt condolences and prayers for the family. It was my good fortune to have known Dr. Cindy Hand for so many years. I first got to know her in my early years of practice and know her to be an awesome, authentic provider who stayed true to herself and worked hard for her Veterans. May she rest in peace and God give comfort to all her family and friends.

  8. To Jane and children: Cindy was a remarkable woman. I worked with her for 20 + years at the Hampton VA hospital and had the privilege of working with her as a psychologist but also traveling with her across Virginia to various professional activities. Cindy loved to shop for her “kids” and we spent many a day shopping for shoes and clothes for the little ones. She had a keen sense of humor and made hard days at work fun. She was such a great example to our Veterans because she NEVER complained about how her health might interfere with her work. She was a trooper and our combat Veterans respected that. As a result she was able to develop a working relationship and provide them with the best of clinical therapy. I will so miss being able to talk to her. Her retirement was way too short, she deserved more time to enjoy life. She really was a great colleague and friend. “Cindy Lou” you made a difference in my life, thank you!

  9. To the family of Dr. Cindy Hand, I worked at the VA with Dr.Hand. She was a true friend and she will be missed. – Carlson and Sarah Pendleton

  10. To Cindy’s family, my sincerest condolences on her passing. I’ve known Cindy for about 17 years. She was my therapist, coworker, and eventually friend. I don’t even have the words to describe how much she meant to me. She was a great confidant and someone who was always so sweet, kind, and had a great sense of humor. She will truly be missed. I will always love her! Praying for all of her family and friends.

  11. I offer my condolences to the family of Dr. Cindy Hand. She and I were colleagues at the Hampton VA Medical Center and I enjoyed working with her every day. She was such a lovely person who drew you in to her warm spirit. She never complained about the challenges we faced on the job, but focused on how we could make things better for everyone. She was committed to the Veterans and always went above and beyond. She is unforgettable and will be truly missed.

  12. Jane and family,
We were so saddened to hear of Cindy’s passing. Prayers of comfort and understanding for everyone. She will be missed by many. Our love to you and the family.

  13. Dr. Hand, your words of love and encouragement meant the world to me and we didn’t even know each other at the time. May you rest in total peace that you’ve never known on this earth. Blessings and peace to your family. You will never be forgotten.

  14. My heart goes out to all of you during this most difficult time. I recall meeting Cindy the first day of graduate school and as the “older” students of the class we quickly formed a strong bond. She had a true gift for saying what needed to be said even if nobody else was capable of saying it. Cindy never met a stranger and was blessed to be able to engage with anyone—including those that others might describe as “rough around the edges.” She never lamented long on her own health but regularly peppered me with questions about my family, kids and adventures. It’s been said that there are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they are gone, the light remains. This sentiment is how I’ll chose to keep Cindy alive in my heart. Farewell is not the end, it simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again…

  15. Sending my sincere condolences to Cindy’s family at this time of deep loss. Cindy leaves an indelible legacy here at the VA from her many years of dedicated service. She was a joy to work with and always brought some needed humor and levity to our staff interactions. Sending thoughts of comfort and healing to all of her family and friends.

  16. Our hearts go out to you as you mourn Cindy’s passing. We are certain she is resting at peace in the arms of Jesus. May you find comfort as you recall precious memories of Cindy in your lives. Love, Louanne and Ted

  17. Dr. Hand, I will truly missed your kindness, genuine personality and encouragement. It was such as great joy and pleasure to work with you. To Dr. Hand’s family, truly a marvelous woman and I am grateful to have known her. My sincere condolences to you all and may the Lord give you peace, strength and comfort at this time. God bless you.
