Charles William “Billy Bob” Midgett
Charles “Billy” William Midgett, age 63, of Powells Point NC, passed away of natural causes on February 20, 2026 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center in Virginia surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha E. Midgett.
Born on February 18, 1963 in Norfolk VA, “Billy Bob” (as he was best known) grew up and lived in Powells Point NC. He worked installing underground cables and in land development over the years. During his high school years at Currituck County High School, he spent his time both on the football field and the wrestling mat. Billy found great joy in quieter hobbies such as putting together jigsaw puzzles and building model cars.
He is probably best known and remembered by his frequent presence at the Get-Go convenience store in Harbinger, NC with his buddy Van Norman (RIP.) Billy loved to entertain everyone with stories, he always kept you wondering how true they were. He had a love for children, was known for helping people when in need, was a jokester, loved to make people laugh and have a good time.
Billy is survived by his father, Ezekial W. Midgett Sr. “Worth”; daughter, Amber Corbell (Kevin); grandchildren, Kody Corbell and Ashlyn Corbell; sisters, Mona Armstrong (Frankie) and Tellisa Pope (Glenn); brother, Ezekial W. Midgett Jr. “JR” (Dawn); nieces and nephews, Matthew Armstrong (Amanda), Krystina Armstrong, Lauren Sword (DJ), Zack Sword (Shelby), Erica Jump, and Katie Midgett; and grandnieces and grandnephews, Christopher Armstrong, Ayden Armstrong, Alyssa Armstrong, Kolton May, Kylie May, Ember Sword, and Ka’el Carver.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at the Powells Point Christian Church (197 Church Road, Harbinger NC 27941) on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:00pm. The family would like to invite anyone who would like to pay their respects to join them.
