Carole Lynn Miller

Carole Lynn Miller, 73, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of July 30, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on November 8, 1951, Carole made the Outer Banks of North Carolina her home starting in 1991, where she raised her children and grandchildren with fierce love and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Miller, whom she adored since they were young, and by her mother, Margaret Reed, who she loved deeply.
Carole’s greatest joy and pride were her daughters—Jennifer, Mallory, and Kristan—whom she loved unconditionally. She is also survived by Jennifer’s partner, Kenny; Mallory’s partner of 25 years, Scott Cooper; and her beloved son-in-law, David Whitfield, who visited her nearly every day and held a special place in her heart.
Carole was also a loving stepmother who truly cared for and loved April Ford. She is also survived by a stepson whom she met later in life.
She was the proud grandmother of Noelle Boykin, Zenith Miller, Karris Walker (“Lovey”), Kaylynn Nelson (“Kiki”), and Hunter Nelson (“her rifleman”), and great-grandmother to Thomas Dean. She loved each of her grandchildren in their own special way, and in her eyes, they were always perfect.
Carole lived as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love and strength were the heart of this family, and she will continue to live through all of them—through the bond she held with each of them.
She was our Wonder Woman.
