Carl Richard Liebno

June 8, 2015

Elizabeth City-  Carl Richard Liebno died at his home June 8, 2015 after battling cancer.  Carl was born in Baltimore, Maryland.  He was the son of the late Carl G. and Wilma Liebno,  the loving father of the late George Liebno, and the grandfather of the late Matthew Suzuki.

Carl graduated from Catonsville high school in 1954 and went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Army from October of 1961 to August of 1963.  After his military service, Carl was employed with the Baltimore County, Maryland Fire Department for over 20 years.

After Carl retired from the Baltimore FD, he moved to the Outer Banks where he ended up serving in the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department and in the Kill Devil Hills FD Support Group from 1986 to 2001.  His loyalty to the department and love of fire fighting was rewarded when he was declared a Life Time Member of the support group in 2014.

When Carl had free time outside the firehouse he stayed busy doing home repairs, remodeling projects, bowling and building model trains.  Carl  is survived by his daughter, Roni Suzuki (Andy); three sons, Jim Liebno (Beth), Mike Liebno (Hong), and Jeff Liebno (Cindy);  daughter-in-law Marti Liebno; nine grandchildren; Anthony, Michael, Melissa, Robby, Tyler, Brent, Caitlin, Amber and Stephen, several great-grand children,  and numerous extended family members and dear friends.

The family will hold a memorial service Friday June 12, 2015 at 11 am at Ocean View Baptist Church 902 South Virginia Dare Trail in Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948.  Pastor Steve Siegrist will officiate.
