Camilo Macaranas, Jr.
Kill Devil Hills- Camilo “Sonny Mac” Macaranas, Jr. was called to the light by God on Monday April 7, 2014 quietly at his Kill Devil Hills home and surrounded by his family. His courageous battle with kidney failure and heart disease is finally over. Sonny Mac was preceded in death by his father, Camilo Macaranus, Sr. and his mother Adela Macaranas DeGuzman.
Camilo was a fortunate man to have been raised by two fathers. His second father who helped mold him in the man he became- Bernabe A. DeGuzman will cherish Sonny Mac’s memory. Also left with priceless memories is his wife of 36 years, Victoria; his children; Camilo Macaranas Barter; Sonny Macaranas, Jack A. Macaranas, and James A. Macaranas; his sisters and brothers; Rosita, Mary, Linda, Donna, Lisa, David, Bernie and Ricky; four grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members, and dear friends.
Sonny Mac loved to fish the Avalon Pier and loved to ride his Harley. Camilo was proud of his service to his country as a United States Marine and he also loved his family more than his heart could handle.
The family gratefully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be to the American Kidney Foundation. The family will hold a private memorial service in the near future. Condolences to the Macaranas family may be expressed via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
