Brian Matthew Hill

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brian Matthew Hill, who died in a tragic car accident in Richmond, Virginia, on May 8, 2025, at the age of 55.

Brian was born on December 24, 1969, in Newport, Rhode Island. A hardworking and skilled craftsman, he spent many years working as a roofer and was a carpenter by trade. Throughout his life, Brian called many places home — including Florida and the Outer Banks of North Carolina — before settling in Richmond, Virginia.

Brian was known for his warm personality, creative spirit, and deep love for life. He was passionate about music, good food, and fine wine. He had many hobbies and talents and was always willing to lend a hand or share a laugh. Brian was deeply loved by his family and well-liked by many friends who will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his father, Paul F. Hill Sr. (78); his brothers, Jason Hill (50) and Jonathan Hill (40); sisters-in-law, Tanya Hill and Geneva Hill; his niece, Tharis Seay; and nephews, James Hill (32) and Justin Hill (20) Step sisters, Kim Holland, Deborah Martinez, and Teresa Luettel and step father Haldean Holland (88). He is also survived by Jonathan’s children, Farrah Hill, Adilynn Hill, Brayden Hill, and Harley Hill, and by James Hill’s children, Jaxon Hill and Ella Hill. Also survived by many cousins and extended family that knew him well, and loved him very much He is remembered fondly by his extended family and many close friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 2:00 PM at Avalon Pier in the Outer Banks, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Brian in the place he loved. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
