Bobby M. Reed

Bobby M. Reed of Gerrardstown, WV passed away June 23, 2012, at Avon, NC. Born April 6, 1931 in Bristow, Oklahoma, he was the son of Charles N. and Thelma (Gibbons) Reed. He worked in the U.S. Geological Survey Headquarters Library in Washington, D.C. and then Reston, VA, retiring as Chief Cataloguer after 30 years of service. He lived in Reston, VA 36 years, where he was an active member of Washington Plaza Baptist Church and the Community Chapel of Wholistic Healing. He was a member of the Washington Cathedral Choral Society for 32 years.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane (Bolles) Reed, twin sons Jeffrey G. Reed and wife Kyla of Centennial, CO and Anthony B. Reed and wife Cathy of Cloverdale, VA, four grandchildren, Jackson A. Reed, and Cory S. Reed of Colorado and Hayley R. Reed and Kelli Fu Zhu Reed of Virginia as well as two sisters, Darlene Coon of Raton, New Mexico and Lynn Jones of La Junta, CO.. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Bradley Jonathan Reed. A memorial service will be held iat the Washington Plaza Baptist Church in Reston, VA, on Sunday, July 8 , at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to OXFAM, the Whitman Walker Clinic, the Washington National Cathedral, or any other charity.
