Betty Greer Shull

Betty Greer Shull, 85, of Grandy passed away November 30, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Betty greets in Heaven her first husband Paul David Greer, her second husband, Gene Shull, her long-time life partner Rein Roots, and her son, Michael Greer. She is survived by children; Deborah Munro of Grandy NC, David Greer (Carolyn) also of Grandy NC, Scott Greer (Virginia) of Hayesville OH, Sunday Kissel (Rusty) of Kill Devil Hills NC, and Laurie Myers (Dwayne) Chesapeake VA as well as 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and her faithful companion, Wheezer.
Betty, also known as “GiGi” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was vibrant and charismatic, always the light of the room and life of the party. They were blessed to share such a special bond with her and to share so many wonderful memories like fishing all night and day at the light house and the long battles of Rummikub at The Golden Strand. Her grandchildren will miss her witty words that would keep them on their toes and always have them guessing what GiGi may do or say next. She was extraordinary and was extremely loved by them all.
Betty was also eccentric, an entrepreneur, and a collector of unique things. She was a talented quilter and could see something ordinary or discarded and turn it into a beautiful piece of art- a gift she passed onto each of her children. Outspoken and a fiery lover of life, Betty enjoyed dancing and having a good time, her outgoing personality meant every stranger was a friend.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Riverside Memorial Park in Norfolk, VA. Please leave a message of hope at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
