  1. My prayers and good thoughts go to all of Barbs family. She was a special lady. This picture shows her as we all knew her, a beautiful person. She was a force to be reckoned with on the golf course but fun to play with. Rest in peace dear friend.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about Barbara’s passing. She was one of my favorite customers. She always made a point of speaking with me when she would come into my Walgreens store. My sincere condolences to your family.

  3. I was so sorry and sad to read about Barb. She was one of my “most favorites”. She was so much fun to play golf with – always encouraging! We delighted in keeping up with the Nats baseball. We’d compare notes. The year they won the pennant – oh my goodness!! It was a privilege to call Barb my friend.

  4. To the family of Barb, Jim and I send our deepest sympathy. We will miss her for sure. May her soul rest in peace.may the memories of her live on forever. God bless you. Shirley & Jim

Barbara Ann Heisey

January 19, 2026

Barbara Ann “Barb” Weikel Heisey, 88, of Southern Shores, NC passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Herndon, PA to the late Ammon A. Weikel and Mary G. Heim Weikel.

Barb was a 1955 graduate of Hershey High School where she excelled in sports and academics. In December 1955 she married Jacob A. Heisey and the following year they started a family in Hershey, PA. Barb was a devoted homemaker, dedicating her life to caring for her family. She supported Jake throughout his career with the Coca-Cola Co., which moved them several times between Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. In 1989 Barb and Jake purchased a beach house in Southern Shores, NC where they enjoyed many vacations and good times with family and friends. When it came time to settle into retirement, they chose Southern Shores as their final home in 2001.

After raising her three children, Barb became an avid golfer. She and Jake were past members of The Hershey Country Club, Hershey, PA, Willow Oaks CC, Richmond, VA, Chartwell CC, Severna Park, MD, Two Rivers CC, Williamsburg, VA, and Duck Woods CC, Southern Shores, NC. Off the course, Barb enjoyed watching televised golf tournaments from around the country and the world. She also enjoyed watching baseball and football. Especially the Pittsburgh Steelers! Barb was talented at sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cross stitch. She also worked on crossword puzzles daily and read an array of books which helped keep her mind razor sharp. She was a wonderful gardener and cook and proudly kept her home immaculately clean. It was often said her house was so clean you could eat off the floors. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always made time to attend their sporting or school events, graduations, birthdays and weddings. Barb’s family and friends knew her as a kind, generous woman with an indomitable spirit. She was small, but mighty. Ready to give advice and her honest opinion to anyone who asked.

Barb is survived by three children, Shelby E. Boltz of Williamsburg, VA, Brian K. Heisey (Laurel) and Jennifer L. Klotz (Steve) both of Southern Shores, NC ; four grandchildren, Clare E. Dalton (John), Jacob G. Heisey, Shelby K. Spry (Heath) and Samuel J. Klotz; four great grandchildren, James B. Dalton, Samuel A. Dalton, Liam G. Heisey and Parker A. Spry; two sisters, five brothers, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and her husband of 67 years, Jacob A. Heisey, she was predeceased by one brother.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at the Outer Banks Hospital for their compassionate and attentive care. In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, the simplicity of cremation will be honored with no services planned at this time. Donations in her memory can be made to the organization of your choice.
