Barry “Whitey” White

October 22, 2025

Our dear friend Barry White, lovingly known as Whitey, passed away on October 22, 2025, leaving a space in our hearts and in our community that can never be filled. Barry was 83.  With his quick wit, easy laughter, and joyful spirit, Whitey had an extraordinary gift for making everyone around him smile.

His home was more than a house…it was a gathering place. Friends were met with stories, laughter, good company, and always a bowl of popcorn or glass of bourbon. He loved his friends deeply and the community they brought. He was affectionately called the Mayor of Brigands Bay as he was the heart of the neighborhood, always bringing people together.

Whitey’s passions reflected the richness of his life. He had a keen eye for antiques and a craftsman’s touch in woodworking. You might find him fishing at his favorite spot, teaching someone the basics of casting, riding his golf cart through the neighborhood and saying hello with the honk of the horn, or sharing stories from his years as an electrician. However he spent his days, he lived life fully.

We will remember Whitey for his humor, his generosity of spirit, and the countless ways he brightened our lives simply by being himself. His friendship was a true gift, one we will hold close and treasure always. A gathering to celebrate Whitey’s life will be held in the Spring. Friends and neighbors are warmly invited to come together, share memories, and honor him with the laughter and love he so freely gave.  Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
