DC Local Earns License- Named Funeral Home Partner
Dare County native Jon Benjamin “Ben” Andrews has just obtained state licensure to practice funeral directing in the State of North Carolina. Andrews recently passed the mandatory state board examinations and completed his funeral directing residency at Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. in Nags Head. Andrews has been granted FD #4110 and has been named a partner with Gallop Funeral Services, Inc.- the business that was founded in 2006 as the first funeral home located on the Outer Banks of Dare County.
Andrews graduated from Manteo High School and The University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelors degree in Business and Information Technology. Ben earned his degree in funeral service from Fayetteville Technical Community College this past December and has been licensed to practice funeral directing since January.
Before reaching this milestone, Andrews co-owned and operated several local restaurants, and started a concrete and landscaping business based in Kitty Hawk. He holds a NC General Contractor’s license and recently oversaw the construction of Capital Crematory on the Dare County Mainland. Shortly after the construction of the crematory Andrews went on to earn his Crematory Operator License through Gallop Funeral Services/Capital Crematory.
In his spare time, Ben enjoys spending time with his son- Emory, fishing, cooking, attending auctions and managing an online collectibles and antiques business. “I am very excited to join this most challenging yet rewarding field, because I get to uniquely help the community I grew up in and love,” said Andrews.
Gallop President and funeral Director Courtney Gallop added, “With Ben on board, I finally get to think about a little vacation one of these days and I know my families will be in caring and capable hands.”
