Barco Funeral Chapel Gets Fresh Look

Gallop Memorial Chapel- Barco has just completed a major exterior renovation announces owner and funeral Director Courtney N. Gallop. Operating since 2016, the former karate studio was completely repurposed to become the Currituck’s first funeral chapel.

The 3000 square foot building now features a spacious chapel, a welcoming family lounge, and a well appointed conference room. The western half of the building contains separate professional office suites available for lease. According to Gallop, the success of the chapel dictated it was time to overhaul the metal building’s exterior.

Gallop hired local painting contractors to paint the entire exterior of the building. The original utilitarian blue shade was changed to a dramatically modern grey and black color scheme. Also, the distinctive original white fabric awnings were replaced with sleek black awnings to accent the new building trim.

“This is a unique site,” explained Gallop. “The chapel’s success stems from its centralized county location, flexible hours of operations, and the fact that more and more families are open to new choices and need options in funeral arrangements including cremation.”

Gallop Memorial Chapel supports the parent company Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. based in Nags Head and all cremations are performed locally at the company’s crematory in Dare County.
