Charles Eugene Hess

Charles “Charlie” Eugene Hess, 92, beloved husband of Deanna Joann “Jodi” Hess, passed away on June 13, 2025, in Elizabeth City, NC of natural causes. He was born March 13, 1933 in Pennsylvania.  

Charlie enjoyed a long and active retired life with his wife, Jodi, in the Southern Shores community they made their home. He was a brave veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. Before retiring to Southern Shores, Charlie had a successful career in telecommunications and commercial real estate. Charlie enjoyed playing golf, sailing, cycling, swimming, reading and spending time with his family.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Jodi; his daughter, Christine Sheppard and husband Tony; his son, Michael Hess and wife Kayla; his grandson, Lucas Sheppard; and his niece, Jennifer Zannetos.
