Peter Christopher Turek

May 17, 2025

Peter Christopher Turek, 66 of Colington Harbour met his mother at The Golden Gates May 17, 2025. He had fought many years of failing health. Pete always seemed to find someone to talk to and share his love and knowledge.

Pete was born on June 8, 1958 in Newington, CT where he graduated from high school and then attended Berklee School of Music in Boston. He would hitchhike to play in numerous big bands including Miles Davis and Chuck Mangione.

His father was a contractor so at a very early age, he learned the trade and was very proud to work beside his dad and share his knowledge with all. In 1985 he moved to NC and built his house and was very proud of it and made improvements constantly. In 1990 he met his love and soul mate, Judy Johnson and within two months of dating asked her to marry him. On May 10, 1990 they were married. Pete joined the Colington Fire Department as a volunteer and loved firefighting so much that he went to Kill Devil Hills Fire Department as a paid Firefighter and was promoted to Captain of “B” shift before he retired. He also became a firefighting instructor. Pete’s children were any animal or child. He always said they had unconditional love.

Pete was predeceased by his father, Peter M. Turek; mother, Mary Patricia Turek; and brothers, Michael Turek and Patrick Michael Turek. He is survived by his wife, Judy Turek; sisters, Faith Turek and Mary Ann Turek; his father’s wife, Eve Turek, and many other family members, and many loving friends.

The celebration of life for Pete will be held at 2pm, June 20, 2025 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Clubhouse, 2706 S. Croatan Highway,
Nags Head. Please leave a message of comfort at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
