Laura Belle Boning
December 25, 1961 – December 18, 2024
Laura Belle Boning of Wanchese, North Carolina passed away on December 19, 2024 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was born in Dover Foxcroft, Maine on December 25, 1961.
Laura was a beloved mother, sister, spouse, coworker, and friend. She radiated kindness and generosity. Her family and friends were the center of her world.
As a military child, she grew up moving all over the world. She spent time in many different states as well as the Philippines but settled in Florida for most of her life. In Florida, she met her spouse of 20 plus years, John Peterson. They spent many years in the Florida Keys, where Laura worked as a waitress, charter reservationist, and insurance agent. She relocated to North Carolina with her family in 2009.
In North Carolina, she was a hardworking and dedicated employee at The Islander Motel in Nags Head where she befriended many people who were guests. She was someone who could make friends with anyone. In her free time, she enjoyed relaxing in the sun, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends, and pets.
She is survived by her two children, Drake Boning and Brooke Peterson; her spouse, John Peterson; her sisters, Suzanne Touchstone and Becky Boning; her brother, David Boning; as well as the countless number of lifelong friends she’s made from her time living in Florida and in North Carolina.
Her kindness and warmth are continued through her family and all of her friends. She was treasured by everyone in her life and will be so incredibly missed.

It is with great sadness that I have learned of Laura’s passing. My most sincerest condolences to John, Drake, and Brooke. You alll were her heart, her life’s joy, and loved you in ways that words can not describe. Prayers for each one of you ❤️
My condolences to the family. I meet Mrs. Laura at Currituck Health & Rehabilitation few months ago. She will truly be missed. Mrs Laura Beautiful spirit had a way with her. When I entered her room her infectious smile would light up a room we would always give each other a big b hug she could always tell when I needed it most. I'm gonna miss Seeing you Laura Even when I didn't have her for my patient some days, I always would go to her room just to check on her and see that Beautiful smile. God definitely gain an angel. Rest well Mrs. Laura Love you and thanks for all our chats we used to have I'm so glad I meet you.
Our beautiful, sweet friend, those angels wings look great on you! Our hearts go out to John & Laura's "favorite" children. She truly loved her family & friends! Missing you Laura Belle!

Laura was always a ray of sunshine ☀️ always uplifting and inspiring ❤️. We always got a hug from her when we checked in the motel and always got one goodbye. It was a like visiting a friend every time we came to NC; It was. She was a friend to all. We will definitely miss her. Rest in peace our friend.
