My brother in law, Michael Shannon, was a Special Olympian and a 4th Degree Knight.. He led a full life in part because of the friendship and kindness of his brother Knights.. Kevin exemplified this..Years ago I was talking with another Knight and thanked him and his brother Knights for being so kind to Michael... He was flustered and stammered with a shocked look on his face and said:"But but that's who we are!". And that was Kevin.. He was a good man..
Our deepest sympathy to you, Lucille, and sons. Lucille, you kept Kevin in great care with loving hands. May God Bless you and know Kevin is in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ. Kevin will be forever in your heart. Holy Mary mother of God pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Peace to you Lucille, with love and compassion, Carol and Jerry.
We have known Kevin for 10 years since we moved to the Outer Banks and joined Holy Redeemer By The Sea Choir. We enjoyed many movie and dinner nights with Kevin and Lucille. He loved telling us stories about his service in the Navy and we enjoyed hearing them. We also spent many happy times together during the holidays, at choir parties, and birthdays. Sunday breakfast after Mass was always a highlight of our week. You fought so hard to come back from every medical setback and never gave in. You are a role model to all who knew you! Rest in Peace dear Kevin, we will miss your smiling face. Love, David and Cyndy
My deepest condolences Lucille & family. Kevin was a prince of a man, a delight to know! I’m so sorry I can’t be at his memorial mass but I have a Doctor appointment in Chesapeake. Hugs and prayers to you all.
Dear Lucille and family, We were saddened to hear of Kevin's passing and will hold all of you in our thoughts and prayers trusting God to meet your every need. We have many fond memories of Kevin. He always made it a point to ask about our military sons as well as inquire about the rest of our family. We have prior plans to be out of town this week so will not be able to attend his funeral Mass. Please know that we will continue to pray for you trusting God to surround with his love and fill your hearts with peace. With love and deep sympathy, John and Pam Buscemi
Lucy and family, You and your family have indeed been in our thoughts and prayers. Kevin was such a wonderful friend and we know he is at peace looking down on all of us. May God give you comfort in the memories you have and in the friends who love you. With our deepest sympathies.
I am sorry for your loss. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.
He was a great Catholic, Brother Knight, and wonderful example of a life well-lived. I hope he knew how much we all liked and respect him. Sadly, I could not be at the funeral, despite wanting very much to be there. However and almost miraculously, when I went to church the following Sunday, and we sat in the general area of pews where we usually sit, I saw a card in the box where the hymnals are on the backs of the pews. It was a prayer card from Kevin's funeral service on the 7th! I cried. I guess Kevin knew....... I looked up and down every row around me. That was the only prayer card around. I have that prayer card with me now, and I will carry it with pride knowing that Kevin is with us.
