Floyd Joseph DeMars, Jr.

October 2, 2023

Floyd Joseph DeMars, Jr., beloved father, and cherished grandfather, passed away on October 2nd, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for life. He was 83 years old.

Born on March 22, 1940 to the late Helen and Floyd DeMars, Sr. and, brother to Anne, Helen, and the late Grant and Alfred; Floyd had a deep love for Michigan football, golf, and road racing which were only surpassed by his love for his two sons, Michael and Kyle. He cherished the time spent with them, creating lasting memories and instilling in them a sense of determination and independence. He was also a doting grandfather to his adored granddaughter, Ayden, who brought immeasurable joy and laughter to his life. Their bond was a source of immense happiness for Floyd.

For the past 15 years, Floyd found solace and joy in the Outer Banks, making it his beloved home. Floyd embraced the coastal lifestyle, relishing in the beauty of nature and the close-knit community he became a part of at Carolina Designs where he worked part-time.

Floyd lived life on his own terms. His quick wit and dry humor endeared him to all who knew him. He approached every day as a blessing and made an impact on anyone who met him.

In honor of Floyd’s life, a memorial service will be held on October 22, 2023 from 10-12, at Gallop Funeral Services Chapel in Nags Head. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate his remarkable journey and share stories of his vibrant spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his honor. The family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Floyd will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his unwavering love and free spirit. May his soul rest in eternal peace and his spirit live on in the cherished memories of those who knew and loved him. Floyd Joseph DeMars, Jr. will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Gallop Funeral Services is entrusted with arrangements. Please share condolences with the family at gallopfuneralservices.com.
