Gary Win Brown, aged 68, of Poplar Branch, North Carolina died peacefully May 29, 2023. He was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to the late Ray Elton Brown and Kathleen Waterfield Brown Lorenz. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elton Leonhauser “Zip” Brown.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Gary retired from the Coast Guard Base as an Office Planner. He was a member of Currituck Masonic Lodge #463. He was also a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Debra D. Brown; one son, Hunter Brown (Ashley); one daughter, Mary Ann Allen (Gary); one brother, Tommy Brown (Carol); three sisters-in-law, Tammy Raines (Robert), Lesa Jordan (Chip), and Vickie Scott; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral will be held at Poplar Branch Baptist Church Friday, June 2, 2023 at 1pm. Please share condolences with the family at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.

Hunter , I remember your dad bringing you to work at the base one Saturday and we gave you some tools and put you on the wing of the airplane. I loved working with your dad. We got a lot done and had a good time also.
Gary was a good friend. He gave me my start on the HU 25 line. I will always remember him as a friend and a mentor. I'll miss fishing and hanging out with a true good guy. Condolences to his family.
Many years ago in Currituck the Brown family always made life exciting and fun while hunting, fishing and enjoying time with friends. We are so sorry to know of Gary's passing and our prayers go forth to Kathleen and all of the family. I believe that what he loved here surely shall be celebrated in Heaven.
