Newton N. Hampton, III
Newton Nathaniel Hampton, III, born November 16,1937 and a resident of Barco, NC passed away in the early morning hours of December 6th, 2021.
Born to the late Lindsey and Iva Hampton, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sue B Hampton; daughters, Frances E. Hampton of Maple, NC and Lisa H. Crawford and husband Stephen Crawford of Garner, NC; son, D. Lindsey Hampton and wife Michelle Hampton; grandchildren, Grace Hampton and Robert Anderson of Mineola, KS, and sister, Cherrill H. Robertson and family of Lawrenceville, VA.
He was a lifelong resident of Currituck County, NC, a local farmer, a mailman, serving his community as Ruritan, a fireman/chief, county commissioner, and deacon in his local church and in last few years as a bus driver for the school system. In his free time, he enjoyed building boats and making shoving poles. He loved hunting and fishing and in later years riding his motorcycle with friends. You could always find him with the locals early mornings discussing the news about town at Currituck Sports in Barco. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and the community he so loved helping throughout the years of his life.
In lieu of flowers the family would wish that you make donations to Coinjock Baptist Church of 193 Worth Guard Rd, Coinjock, NC 27923. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, December 15th at 1 pm at the church with a brief visitation with the family in the fellowship hall. Thank you all for your prayers and kind words.

He always made us feel a part of the church family and made a special effort to reach out when we were not in attendance. I will forever remember his contagious smile and spirit! Sorry to hear of Newton passing I met him when he was Fire Chief once you new him you where a friend for life.Will be praying for the family.
The loss I feel is nothing compared to yours, but I already miss him. Our evening fishing adventures in his skiff are trip’s i always looked forward to. Until I see you again Rest In Peace my dear friend.

Newton has been a family friend over 3 generations of our family. He always was willing to help others and had a wonderful sense of humor. Prayers for his family and know he will long be remembered in our community. I am sure he is enjoying the reunion that must be going on in the Currituck Sports over the rainbow.

Newton was my lifelong friend. We grew up together in Coinjock and on Monkey Island. He was a strong influence in leading me to my relationship with the Lord Jesus christ. I thank you Father God for using him to accomplish your purpose. May the peace of your presence be upon his family.
I am so sorry to learn of your and all our loss. Newton's passing is Currituck's collective loss. I wish I had known him better. In all the time I had known him, I never realized how close we were in age. I have enjoyed knowing and teaching Frances, Lisa, and Lindsey all these years, as well. May the Good Lord Bless and Comfort you all during this time.
She and family, I am just learning that Little Newton, as we called him passed on Friday. We just talked about him last week. We loved him, I grew up working for his family as a teenager. I will always remember his kindness having grown up on the Hill, not even a half mile away.

To Frances and family, we've only had the privilege of knowing Mr Newton for a short few years but he will be missed. Scott got to know him and would speak to him after church about motorcycles,bus duties, and their mutual love of fishing. He always had a smile on his face. We'll miss his heartfelt, tearful prayers and insights to the heart and word of God.
