Sandra Ann Ballance Taylor

Kill Devil Hills- Sandra Ann Ballance Taylor died in Norfolk after a brave battle with illness Wednesday September 9, 2009.  She was 36.  Sandra, or Sandy as she was known by family and friends, was born May 4, 1973 in Pasquotank County, NC.  She was predeceased recently by her paternal grandmother Joan Bell and husband, the late Robert Bell, Sr.

Sandy attended Currituck County High School after which she attended Elizabeth City State College.  Not long after, she met her soul mate Brent and the two married in Nevada.  Upon returning to the outer banks, Sandy embarked on a successful career in construction sales that spanned many years.  She became well known and respected among local builders and tradesman for her hard work ethic and product knowledge.

When Sandy found free time she enjoyed doting on her two daughters, coaching recreational basketball, aiding cancer charities, relaxing on the beach, and reading a good book.  Sandy enjoyed her faith and felt a special connection to the Ocean View Baptist Church family.  She will be remembered most for her devotion to her husband and children and for living life to the fullest.

Left to cherish Sandra’s memory is her loving husband of 16 years, Brent H. Taylor of the Kill Devil Hills residence; two beloved daughters Ashlyn Taylor and Amanda Taylor also of Kill Devil Hills, her father Norman “Skeeter” Ballance of Moyock, her mother Debbie S. Loveless of Seattle Washington; maternal grandparents, Sandy and wife Dorothy Loveless of Florida; two brothers Joseph Whitfield of Richmond, Virginia, and  Aaron Davis of Kill Devil Hills; one sister, Rachel LaBranche of El Paso, Texas; the Creekmore and the Bell families, and a host of  extended family members and dear friends.

The family will hold a memorial celebration of Sandy’s life Wednesday September 16, 2009 at 3:30 at Ocean View Baptist Church in Kill Devil Hills. In accordance with Sandy’s wishes, Brent will scatter Sandy’s remains in the Atlantic Ocean where she longed to be.
