William Edward Furr, Jr.

Jarvisburg – William Edward Furr, Jr. or “Billy” as he was known, died suddenly at home Thursday October 9, 2014.

Billy was predeceased by his parents, William E. and Jane P. Furr. He was born July 12, 1948 in Winchester, VA. Billy spent 30 years as a foreman with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Billy’s retirement years in Currituck were spent making new friends and entertaining them and his family in the Outer Banks.

Surviving Billy is his wife of over 40 years, Pat Furr of the Jarvisburg residence; his two daughters Amy Crouch (John), and Ashley Furr both of Richmond, VA; his sister, Judy Rugen (Steve) of Dale City, VA; and three grandchildren, Taylor Crouch, Kasey Crouch, and Emma Crouch also of Richmond.

Billy will also be missed by long time friends, John and Lynda Crouch, and Ronnie Tolson; his two sisters-in-law Peg and Pam, and a host of extended family members and other friends.

A service of remembrance will be he at the Hebron United Methodist Church in Jarvisburg Wednesday October 15, 2014 at 2 pm. Friends may gather with the family one hour prior. The Reverend Dawne Hollis will officiate. A reception will follow at the Furr residence immediately following the service.
