William Joseph Carty II
Corolla – William Joseph Carty II, 69, Corolla, NC, (formerly of Malden, MA and Newport RI) also known as “Coach”, “Big Bill”, or the “Dancing Bear” passed away October 23, 2014 after a long and hard-fought contest with cancer. He departed this life on his terms ~ No fear, No self-pity, just Love and Integrity.
He was a graduate of Malden High School and an All-American Wide Receiver at UMass Amherst and Furman University in SC. While coaching was his true passion he spent many of his professional years working for Anheuser Busch and United Liquors in Bridgewater, MA.
His tireless will to live and one-of-a-kind spirit will be carried on by his best friend in life and wife of 50 years Barbara, their son William (Billy) J. Carty III, his wife Kathy and their two daughters Haley and Megan of CO, daughters Kelly Carty Tobin, her husband Jeff and their two sons, Mitch and Billy Foster of NC, Jill Carty and her children Stephen, Nick, Jake and Grace Pruneau of RI, Terri Carty Lazarus, her husband Fritz and their (soon -to- be son) Boone William of Newport, RI, his best buddy, yellow lab Jack, two great grandchildren, two brothers Paul Carty of VT and Tom Carty and his wife Nancy of NH along with nephews John Harkins, Evan Carty and a niece, Gienah Carty.
He is reunited with his parents William J. and Helen A. Carty, his sister, Helen A, Harkins and four legged friends, Jerry Jeff & Mike.
“Life is game of inches and so is football. We loved every inch we got with you and we will GO GO GO until we get across that goal line Big Bill”~ We Love You; Rest in Peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held November 29, 2014 in Corolla, NC (announcement to follow). All are welcome to celebrate a life well lived and well loved. Inquiries regarding the service may be directed to kellytobin38@aol.com
