Nestor Taboada, Jr.

Nestor Taboada, Jr., 58, of Southern Shores, passed away on June 23, 2013 at The Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head. Nestor was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 13, 1955 to Nestor and Luisa Taboada.

Nestor joined the Air Force in 1974, achieved the rank of sergeant and served as an avionics instrument systems specialist. Upon honorable discharge from the military, Nestor became a New York City Police officer in 1980. After retiring from the police department, Nestor moved to Stroudsburg, PA to raise his two sons. Nestor was a devoted father and best friend to his sons. He also became a guiding force in the lives of his sons’ friends in Stroudsburg, PA. In 2011, Nestor moved to the Outer Banks to be closer to his son, Michael.

Nestor is survived by his son, Santo Michael Taboada of Southern Shores and daughter-in-laws, Tara Taboada of Tannersville, PA and Renee O’Neal of Southern Shores as well as grandsons, Thomas Nestor Taboada of Tannersville, PA and Gavin Michael Taboada of Southern Shores. He is also survived by his sister, Olympia Taboada of the Cayman Islands and nephew Christopher Miller of Harbinger, NC as well as, special friend, Lorraine Libranti of Long Island, NY. Nestor was predeceased by his son, Nestor Taboada, III who passed away December 30, 2010.

The services will be held at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk on Friday, June 28, 2013. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, prior to the funeral service, which will begin at 10:30 AM. A light luncheon reception will be held at the church following the service.
