Robert J. Shekletski

Kitty Hawk- Dr. Robert J. Shekletski, 74, of Kitty Hawk, NC passed away at his home on December 1, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Grace, his sons Michael and Mark, his sister Annie and was preceded in death by his first wife Marilyn and his parents Adam and Jule.

Also surviving are Mark’s wife April, grandchildren Megan, Monica, Mark, Mason, their mother DeeAnn; Matt, Robbie, Mick, their mother Leslie; stepchildren Deborah, husband David Olson, David, wife Ann Staten, Loretta Staten, partner Beth Quinlan, Joseph, wife Michelle Staten and step grandchildren Mary Catherine, Joey, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Christian, nieces Suzy and Bethann, nephew John and devoted dog Obie.

He served honorably in the United States Army and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Lehigh University. Bob’s passion was public education and he obtained a Master of Education from the University of Maryland and a PHD from The American University while working 27 years for Montgomery County Public Schools. Bob served as an Associate Superintendent for MCPS and as a Superintendent for Lancaster City, PA.

Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 Univ Blvd, Silver Spring, MD on Monday, Dec　6th, 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, Norbeck & Muncaster Mill Rds, Rockville, MD, on Tuesday, Dec 7th at 10:30 AM.　 Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Dare Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 1000, Manteo, NC 27954.
